A database is a central data store that is fundamental to the operation of our products. There are many different database systems available, both free and commercial. Below are several popular database systems that have been tested with our products:
MySQL
MySQL is a popular open source database system. It is free for most uses, but may require a commercial license in some cases.
PostgreSQL is a full-featured database system that is free for all uses. It offers a broad set of advanced features along with a truly no-strings-attached licensing policy. This is the system used in most FactorySQL examples.
Oracle is the industry leader for databases. Oracle Database XE can be installed on any size host machine with any number of CPUs. The free version will store up to 4GB of user data, use up to 1GB of memory, and use one CPU on the host machine.

A web demo is a live 45 minute demonstration of Inductive Automation's products. The demonstration is held over GoToMeeting, a program that allows you to view the presenter's desktop. You do not need to install any software prior to the demonstration. You can have multiple people attend the demonstration.
The demonstration covers the basics of FactorySQL and FactoryPMI. You will learn how to read data from a PLC and store it into a database using FactorySQL. You will then display that data in FactoryPMI. Once the demo is completed you will have the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have. Even if you choose not to use Inductive Automation's products you will still learn something about Enterprise Integration.
