FactoryPMI 1.7.0 Released
FactoryPMI 1.7.0 adds many exciting new features, such as concurrent development support, hot-update for running clients, revamped project browser, and more!
08/30/2006 - Inductive Automation is proud to announce that FactoryPMI version 1.7.0 has been released. This version adds many exciting new features that allow project designers to more rapidly create powerful industrial applications.

This release has a large number of new features and bug fixes. Some of the more notable features are:
  • Concurrent Designer Support. It used to be that only one designer could work on a project at a time. If you had two designers, you had to split your project up while designing, and then merge it together when you were done. No more! FactoryPMI now fully supports multiple designers working concurrently on the same project. This unprecedented feature allows for rapid project creation and designer collaboration.
  • Hot-Update. Previous to this version, when a designer made a change to a project, any running clients needed to log out and log back in to see the changes. With version 1.7.0, running clients are simply prompted to update and the update occurs, without logging the operator out, or even changing the windows they were viewing.
  • New Project Browser. The new project browser more intuitively shows all of the parts of a project that can be modified from within the FactoryPMI Designer.
  • Python Standard Library. For those designers who make heavy use of the scripting support in FactoryPMI, a good portion of the Python standard library is now accessible from within FactoryPMI.
Existing users can upgrade to version 1.7.0 free of charge, and are encouraged to do so. New users can download the software right now in the Downloads section.
