About Us
Inductive Automation was the beneficiary of an angel investor, a control system integrator, who knew there just had to be a better way to distribute plant floor information to people who needed it. That was back in 2003 and since then your generous feedback has helped us shape our software into the incomparable product it is today.

Effectively distributing plant floor information requires tight integration with the company network. Unfortunately, IT departments actively resist this and friction between control system integrators and IT departments is well known. You could imagine our surprise when the first IT department gave us a thumbs up. We thought it was a fluke. But after the tenth straight time we knew we were doing it right. IT departments love this stuff! The fact of the matter is, there is no other way. You'd better get along with IT or you're going nowhere.

When we offered the first affordable and user friendly solution to interchange PLC data with SQL databases, it unleashed manufacturing companies from the stifling paradigm they were used to. In effect, SQL databases could be used for tag databases as well as a data historians, serving as nerve centers for plant floor information and control. That was FactorySQL. At the time, it was the

product... but ultimately it was just the first step in an evolution.

FactorySQL enabled ERP systems to interact with plant floor data directly through SQL databases. Web-based user interfaces could be written with PHP or ASP.NET. Some people even attempted real-time control using DHTML. This type of web-based access was cool, but lacked robust real-time control, had lengthy development cycles and long term support issues. It soon became evident that a more powerful solution with true HMI characteristics was needed. Specifically, one that featured rapid application development, supported web-launched clients and was fully compliant with IT standards. Today, FactoryPMI is that solution. From process monitoring & control, to downtime tracking, recipe management, even monitoring & controlling one of the largest light rail systems in the US, this solution is planting its roots deep into IT infrastructure and rapidly growing market share.

Our success is due, in no small part, to your helpful feedback and suggestions. That's the rationale behind our free technical support policy. With this open line of communication we can respond to your needs quickly. Together we are building an even better product for tomorrow.
